DANBURY, CT — Melanie J. Frenkel, 51, of Danbury, wife of Evan G. Frenkel, and mother of Rachel Frenkel passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, at Danbury Hospital. Mrs. Frenkel was born in Poughkeepsie, a daughter of Arnold and Ronni (Palter) Barish of Venice, FL.
She attended NY schools and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from SUNY- Albany.
Melanie was an area resident for the past 20 years and was employed as a Senior Associate Director – Data Engineering with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceutical Corporation in Danbury.
Mrs. Frenkel enjoyed hockey, soccer, and baseball and became passionate about Liverpool soccer in England over the last few years. Melanie was a super fan of Danbury hockey and, of course, the Danbury Hat Tricks. Her interests also included reading, vegetable gardening, and bird watching.
Melanie had a deep love for Disneyworld and everything Disney with her all-time favorite characters being Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Goofy, and Maleficent.
She also enjoyed summers vacationing at New Seabury on Cape Cod where she loved fishing, sitting in the sun working on her tan, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband of 18 years, daughter, and parents, she is survived by a sister, Lara Acevedo, of Milton, NY.
Funeral services were Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, with Rabbi Rhonda Nebel, Congregation B’nai Israel, Danbury, officiating. Interment followed in the Children of Israel Cemetery.
