Sandra Kay Mitchell (Quam), 74, of Lake Campbell, former resident of Sinai and Arlington, went to her heavenly home on Nov. 9, 2022.  
Her celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 ,at Sinai Lutheran Church in Sinai, SD.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 5–7 p.m. at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington, SD.  
Sandra Quam was born in Volga SD, May 26, 1948, to Lloyd and Mavis (Husby) Quam.  She was raised on the family farm by Sinai.  This is where she became interested in horses and had a love for riding.   She was involved in horse shows, trail rides and barrel racing.  She often shared fond memories of her favorite horse Trixie.
Sandy attended Sunny Hill School District 22, Sinai Grade School and graduated from Arlington High School, SD, in 1966.
She married Doug Halseth on July 9, 1966, at Sinai Lutheran Church.  From this union, Doug and Sandy had three children, Jodi, Corey and Darci.   Doug and Sandy made their home in Arlington, SD.  Sandy had various part time jobs while raising her children. While the kids were growing up Sandy was a supervisor for various companies such as Milaca Mills, Bob Allen and Raven Industries.
Sandy married Brad Mitchell Sept. 26, 1992.  They resided in Sinai SD, where Sandy owned Sandy’s Café on main street Sinai for several years.  She was known for her delicious meals and friendly service.
Before retiring, Sandy found great joy in Home Health Care.  Sandy enjoyed building relationships with all of her clients and learning about their families.
Sandy was known for her fun loving and outgoing personality.  She loved meeting and visiting with new people everywhere she went.  She was known for striking up conversations with anyone and everyone at her grandchildren’s activities.  Sandy enjoyed attending her grand children’s activities and spending time with family.  She enjoyed fishing, family reunions and looked forward to mountain oyster and lutefisk feeds.  Later in life she enjoyed spending time at the lake bird watching and watching all the lake critters in her yard.
Sandy volunteered her time at church in Sinai and Arlington by teaching Sunday school and serving at funerals and other special occasions.  While in Arlington, she was a Legion Auxiliary Member.  In 2012, Sandy wrote and published a book titled Butterfly Buddies.  This book highlighted the importance of compassion, kindness and friendships.  These were traits she lived by.
Grateful to have shared her life, is her two daughters, Jodi Halseth (Duane Moe) of Brookings, SD and Darci (Chad) Anderson of Tracy, MN and her Pride and Joy; her grandchildren, Cobey, Caden and Avery Anderson all of Tracy, MN.  Her former spouse Brad Mitchell of Sinai and his children.  Also, to have shared her life were her brothers, Rolly (Lanell) Quam and Mike (Brenda) Quam all of Arlington, SD and their children and her special fur baby, Otis.
Sandy was proceeded in death by her son Corey, Mother Mavis Quam and Father Lloyd Quam, former spouse Doug Halseth and an infant brother and sister.
