Anna Barbara Harnak, 90, who was born at home on March 8, 1932 in Union City, passed away, peacefully at home on November 11, 2022. She was the youngest child of John Harnak and Veronica Luba Harnak. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Joseph and John Harnak; a sister, Mary (Harnak) Tomcho; and nieces, Constance (Coni) Tomcho, and Joanne (Tomcho) Sanders.

Annie, as she was called, spent her youth working on the family farm. After graduating from Union City High School she was employed for a time at Snap-Tite, Inc. She late was employed with Tomcho Refuse and Disposal Company and was the bookkeeper for Joseph Tomcho and Son’s Gravel and Excavating.

In her spare time, she loved to garden and reading the newspaper to give pertinent articles to her friends and relatives. She had an interest in genealogy, bird watching, and music. She could play a mean polka medley on the piano and will be known for her kind and willing spirit, and was always ready to help anyone.

She is survived by her nephews, Martin Tomcho (Laurene) and Steven Tomcho (Marsha); a niece and caregiver, Elizabeth Tomcho; and many grand nieces and grand nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses from Lakeland Area Hospice for their tender and compassionate care during Annie’s transition.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, November 17th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Saint Teresa of Avila, 9 3rd Ave., Union City. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am with Father Thomas Suppa, as Celebrant.

Burial will follow in Saint Teresa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Annie’s memory to the Saint Teresa Restoration Fund, 9 3rd Ave., Union City, Pennsylvania 16438.
