James Harold Hoffman, age 73, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 after a brief illness. He graduated UT mechanical engineering in 1971. He was employed at Watts Bar TVA, Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Valmet Corp., and retired from Mesa Engineers. Jimmy loved spending time with his wife, family and pets. He enjoyed bird watching, traveling, and visiting the Smoky Mountains. He was preceded in death by his father, Colonel Harold Jefferson Hoffman; mother, Mrs. Rebecca Thurmond Hoffman; and sister, Mrs. Barbara Maclachlan. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; nephews, Morgan Maclachlan of Pensacola, Florida, William Gales (Hannah) and Ralph Parker, Jr., nieces, Mrs. Tiffany Luhman of Lexington, KY and Mrs. Mercedes Reeves of Austell, GA; Morgans children, great nieces and nephews; cousin, Laurie Pickett and family of Gulf Shores, Mississippi; aunt, Ruth Thurmond of Memphis; brothers-in-law, James Woods, Jr., and Ralph Parker; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ellen Parker of Fayetteville, GA and Ms. Cathy Gales of Marietta GA; and various cousins in Germantown, Memphis. Special friends Mrs. Carla Grigg and Ms. Megan Dawn Maynard. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Alan Smith officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Young Williams Animal Shelter.
