Cruise Antarctica with Quark Expeditions' remote Weddell Sea voyages – Signature Luxury Travel & Style

There’s nowhere on Earth like Antarctica. Discover some of its most remote, beautiful landscapes and wildlife on this incredible cruise to Snow Hill.
Expedition leader in polar adventures, Quark Expeditions, has announced the much-awaited return to the rarely-visited emperor penguin colony at Snow Hill Island in the Weddell Sea of Antarctica.
Passengers can cruise to Antarctica on a 14-day Emperor Penguin Quest: Expedition to Snow Hill, choose from two departures in November 2023, both beginning in Buenos Aires.
In 2004, Quark Expeditions made history when it made the first ground visit to the remote emperor penguin colony at Snow Hill.
President of Quark Expeditions, Andrew White, says the legendary rookery is one of the most exclusive wildlife viewing experiences on the planet.
“We’re confident our guests will be rewarded with scenes reminiscent of BBC’s ‘Frozen Planet.’ Observing thousands of penguins sliding across the ice into the sea— what wilderness adventure can compete with that?”
The pioneering Ultramarine is equipped with two twin-engine H145 helicopters that will transport guests close to the colony. The remainder of the journey is on foot, allowing you to stand within metres of these awe-inspiring creatures.
While the highlight of the voyage is experiencing the penguin colony, Quark Expeditions has designed an adventurous and educational itinerary.
On board the Ultramarine, guests can enjoy Zodiac cruising among the icebergs and serene polar kayaking.
The cruise line employs a knowledgeable team of polar experts, including penguin scientists, ornithologists, biologists and polar historians.
Join scientists on drifting ice floes as they demonstrate their research techniques, or work with specialist ice navigators and meteorologists. You’ll also learn about crucial weather forecasting and ship operations. Enjoy presentations on wildlife, ice formations, and the experiences of explorers who braved the Weddell Sea more than a century ago.
You can also plunge into icy waters and try stand-up paddleboarding. Or, simiply make the most of the Ultramarine’s superb onboard amenities including a spa, sauna and fitness room.
Guest capacity has been reduced to just 150 people and there is one expedition team member for every four guests, making this a truly intimate experience.
