Harold E. Johnson, 82, a resident at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Duncansville, passed away peacefully Saturday at the home. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Samuel Leo and Edna Mae (Keith) Johnson.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Carol Sue (Nicodemus) Johnson; three children: Jeffrey Johnson of Martinsburg, Lance Johnson of Altoona and Lori Teeter of Camp Hill; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan; and two brothers, Ken and Don, all of Martinsburg.
Harold was known to many in the Cove area as “Helm.” He was a 1957 graduate of Roaring Spring High School.
Harold spent his career designing and building custom homes and was the owner of Johnson Construction. Harold had a true passion for the outdoors and loved bird-watching, feeding, and homing. He also enjoyed living close to his family in Martinsburg.
Harold and his wife shared their love for dogs, starting Oak Grove Kennels and he played an integral role in the foundation of the Blair County Dog Park. Harold spent much of his free time hunting in the woodlands of Pennsylvania, fishing, putting together puzzles and reading.
Together, with his wife, Harold spent winters in the milder weather of Hilton Head, S.C.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family by Pastor Phil Waite.
Arrangements are by Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harold’s memory may be given to the Blair County Dog Park.
